Who We Are

Kemper Construction Inc. was founded in 1994 by Bill Kemper, who, after being laid off as a union carpenter, made the decision to start his own general contracting firm. Built on determination, skilled craftsmanship, and a strong work ethic, Bill laid the foundation for the company’s long-term success.

In its early years, Kemper Construction focused primarily on private industrial construction. Through honesty, integrity, and hard work, Bill steadily grew the company, expanding into additional sectors including healthcare and education. His leadership also took Kemper Construction beyond regional boundaries, completing projects throughout the United States.

In 2007, the second generation joined the business following their college graduations, bringing new perspective while preserving the company’s core values. In 2015, Bill’s daughter, Kara Fitzjarrald, purchased Kemper Construction, continuing the family-owned legacy and guiding the company into its next chapter.

Today, Kemper Construction is a second-generation, union general contractor serving both public and private sector clients. Our work includes industrial, institutional, and healthcare facilities throughout Central Illinois, with a continued commitment to safety, quality, and relationships built to last.
